Arsenal are on the verge of sanctioning the permanent exit of defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, football.london claims.

The Greek defender joined the Gunners from PAS Giannina in January 2018, but he has since made just eight appearances.

He has spent the past one-and-half seasons away from the club on loan, and he is now on the verge of a permanent switch to Stuttgart.

Mavropanos spent the previous campaign on loan with the Bundesliga outfit. He made 21 league appearances as they finished ninth.

Stuttgart are set to pay a £7 million fee to land his services.

Sportslens view:

Mavropanos had a strong Gunners debut against Manchester United in 2018, but he was sent off in the subsequent game against Leicester City.

The 23-year-old has since struggled to make a mark and has not featured for the club since Mikel Arteta took charge as the manager.

The club are planning to make numerous squad changes this summer, and part of the funds are likely to be recouped from player sales.

Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Eddie Nketiah have been linked with exits, but it appears that Mavropanos could be the first through the exit door.

Mavropanos could soon be joined by William Saliba with the Gunners reportedly determined to sign Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Ben White.

The London outfit have failed with an opening £40m bid for White, but they are expected to come up with a renewed offer for the 23-year-old.
