Mighty Barcelona succumb to a defeat in the Copa del Rey against the Seville based club Real Betis. 28 year old Spanish forward Jorge Molina shocked Barca twice inside the first ten minutes of the game. Molina scored one off a set-piece and once from open-play.
Lionel Messi got some consolation in the form of a 38th minute strike between the legs of the Betis keeper Castro. Midfielder captain Arzu capped off the scoring after Barca keeper Jose Manuel Pinto was down after a collision. All of that happened in the first half only.
Messi did get a chance to get on the scoresheet for Barcelona early in the second half but he failed to put away a penalty in the 54th minute. Surely, if he had made the most of it, Barca might as well had turn the game on its head.
