Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has revealed his thoughts on the speculation of whether Barcelona will complete the deal which would see Javier Mascherano move from Liverpool to the Catalans.
Mascherano has been relatively uncomfortable in Liverpool, and has been linked with moves to Inter Milan and Barcelona over the summer.
Messi beleives his fellow country-man would be perfect for Barcelona, and is keen to unite with his international captain in the Camp Nou.
“The ‘little captain’ would be a great boost for Barca”Messi told The Sun.
“He has the quality to play for Barcelona and his character would fit in perfectly at the club.”
The 26 year-old has expressed his desire to leave the club this summer due to his family’s discomfort in England and the midfielder’s representatives have claimed that Mascherano would be glad to make the Camp Nou his new home.
However, Barcelona have offered Liverpool £12 million plus former Arsenal star Alexander Hleb in a potential deal for Mascherano which some people might see as not enough. Another thing that might stop the move is the fact that Liverpool coach Roy Hodgson does not want to let go of the player and has revealed that Mascherano is expected to honor his contract until the day where he is allowed to leave comes.
