Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed speculation that Ashley Cole will leave the club for Real Madrid and be replaced at left back by Benfica’s Fabio Coentrao.
With Cole’s private life garnering more headlines in the British press than his performances on the pitch, there has been speculation that the England international could seek a fresh start in a new locale.
And with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, with whom Cole has a now at Real Madrid, the Bernabeu has been marked as an obvious destination. In fact, just today, there was speculation that Cole has told Ancelotti that he wants to move to Madrid and that Real would attempt to use striker Karim Benzema to help lure the 29-year-old.
However, as if it shouldn’t have been clear already, Ancelotti has confronted the speculation head on, saying, “It’s not true, totally rubbish.”
Ancelotti also refused to speak in great detail about Coentrao’s teammate Ramires, who looks to be set to sign for Chelsea in an £18m deal sometime in the coming days.
“Ramires is, until now, a Benfica player. When he is here, I can speak about him, not now.”
“I don’t want to speak about Ramires. When Ramires will sign a contract for Chelsea, he will sign.
