Aguero scored his second successive hat-trick to lead City to victory, while Gonzola Higuain could only watch and admire.
The 30-year-old now has 11 Premier League hat-tricks for City, putting him level with Alan Shearer’s record – not bad company to be in.
In their hands, but doubts remain
Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth keeps them in the driving seat for the title, but the suspicion remains that they will slip-up at some point.
Manchester United would undoubtedly love to derail Liverpool’s title challenge when the two sides meet on February 24 and a defeat there would hand the initiative to City.
Pep Guardiola’s side know what it takes to win the title – fill your boots and back them to win it again.
Spurs still in the mix
Spurs have been dismissed by many pundits in this season’s title race, although it would be foolish to write them off just yet.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side had to dig deep to see off Leicester City on Sunday, but that spirit could stand them in good stead during the run-in.
With Harry Kane and Dele Alli close to a return to action, Spurs are still a threat to City and Liverpool.
