Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club are looking to sign an ‘exceptional player’, if the situation presents itself.
Speaking to the official Arsenal website, Wenger confirmed that he is on the hunt for an exceptional signing similar to the likes of Sanchez and Ozil.
Arsenal have made just one signing this summer in the form of Petr Cech and there is pressure on the club in terms of transfers, after their poor start to the season.
Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out any transfers in the remaining three days of the window, but has stressed on the importance of signing top quality players. The Frenchman insisted that the club will do business if they manage to find an exceptional talent in any department.
He said: “We are open and we are in the transfer market. If we find an exceptional player in any sector, we will do it. At the moment I don’t know if something will happen or not.”
Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Cavani and Benzema all summer. Earlier today, it was reported that the Gunners are looking at Inter Milan forward, Mauro Icardi.
It will be interesting to see if Wenger can pull off a marquee signing in the closing stages of the window, but there is little doubt that Arsenal definitely need one such player to challenge for the title.
