Arsenal’s terrific run of form in the last couple of months has seen them virtually clinch second place in the Premier League table and essentially secure their place in next season’s Champions League without having to go through the treacherous play off stages. Arsene Wenger’s side have won 7 of their last 8 games and are also in the FA Cup final against Aston Villa.

Thus they would rightly believe that had they maintained this sort of consistency from the start, a significant title tilt would have been possible. With the summer approaching, the Gunners must plan accordingly to get transfer deals done who can boost their strength and help plug their deficiencies.

Here are three names who could lead Arsenal to the 2015-16 EPL Title:

William Carvalho: A week ago there were reports that Arsenal had been given the ‘green light’ to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho. It was believed that the Portuguese club who had previously asked £30m for the 23 year old are now willing to do business for £21.5m.

There is clear evidence that the Gunners need a central defensive midfielder who can shield the back four and also help to build from the back. An aggressive ball winner, the young Portuguese can partner Francis Coquelin in the double pivot and with his dynamic passing range can also help the Gunners recycle possession.

Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked with Carvalho but Arsenal must be proactive to secure one of their key summer targets.

Gonzalo Higuain There is enough evidence that Napoli will go through a torrid summer transfer window. Manager Rafa Benitez is certain to leave and his exit could see several high profile players following suit. Should the Partenopei fail to qualify for the Champions Legaue, Gonzalo Higuain’s exit will be inevitable.

The Argentine was earlier linked with Arsenal before he signed for the Italian side in 2013 for a club record £34.5m. But any negotiations with Napoli will be difficult as they claim that the player has a €100m transfer release clause.

Higuain though is an incredible striker who can turn games on their head and most importantly will thrive in Premier League conditions. A week ago Arsenal legend Thierry Henry claimed that the club can’t win the title with Olivier Giroud up front. But with Higuain leading the line, things could turn out differently.

Kevin Mirallas: The dynamic Belgian is one of the key players in Roberto Martinez’s setup at Everton but there have been speculations that he could leave the Goodison Park outfit for Champions League Football.

A pacy winger who can play on either wings would be a great addition to Arsenal’s already impressive midfield. Mirallas also possesses an incredible work ethic and on present form would be a definite upgrade on Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

ESPN though have quoted the player saying that he is happy at Everton and wants stay. However with just a year left in his current contract, his mood could change if Arsenal show interest. He would also jump at the chance to showcase his talent in the highest echelons of European Cup Football.
