More good news coming on your way, Arsenal fans. You guys must be buzzing at the moment after securing world class winger Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, right? Plus, almost all media outlets in this country suggesting that a deal has been agreed for Newcastle United defender Mathieu Debuchy as well. If this is not the biggest statement of intent shown by any club this summer, I seriously don’t know, what it is.
Debuchy will be expected to fill the void left by Bacary Sagna. Plus, there is Carl Jenkinson, who has proved that he can serve as an able deputy, when needed. Arsene Wenger however probably feels the need to add one more cover for the right-back role and has targeted Atletico Madrid’s young full-back Javier Manquillo.
The 20-year-old is expected to join the Gunners on a season long loan in ‘coming days’ according to reports from Spanish newspaper AS. The youngster is considered as one of the brightest prospect in Spain, although he has only made 17 appearances for Atletico.
Mundo Deportivo suggested that Arsenal were demanding to include an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season, but Diego Simeone unlikely to sanction such move, as he sees Manquillo as a player for the future and is only willing to grant a loan move so he can continue his development.
