Manchester City’s new away shirt has been out for a while and is pretty much a purple version of the Manchester City 07/08 home shirt, with the white pin stripes and white le Coq and Thomas Cook logos.
On the players the kit looks a lot better, But like the picture below when just laid out is not as flattering as when it is being worn, White shorts and purple socks compliment the top with purple change socks also available through some sites.
I think the reason the shirt is being criticised by most people, particularly Manchester United fans is because a) it has stripes, b) it is Manchester City and c) the large Thomas Cook logo. Like Blackburn’s bet24 logo, it really needs some cleaning up so it can go with the kit well and not look so large and bulky.
Overall, Not one of the better kits but it is an alright attempt and good on Le Coq for doing something a bit different with the pin-stripes and the purple.

It’s crap, it’s gay, it’s cheesy.
There’s no such thing as an “away strip”, it’s the second strip, and is only worn when the 1st strip clashed with the other teams home kit. But not anymore, now anything goes.
Absolute garbage, meaningless pap. WTF does purple have to do with Man City, ever? Why not lime green, fuschia, after all, it’s all about being “different” and “new”.
PURPLE is a damn UGLY colour, have you ever wondered why you don’t see much of it fashion-wise?
City should wear the first strip away, period, and only change it when there is a clash, period.
What’s next, changing the cross of St. George for games in France? Pathetic branding muppets.

Purple? Some pedigree. Noice the frequency of change over time and how bizarre it’s become.
This is part and parcel of the branding and hype that has taken over football.
God help you all if I took over the club. This nonsense would stop right away. Fir the 1st strip and 2nd strip look to 1884-1924, that’s the inspiration.
Purple is the color of my college football team, TCU. This kit looks great. It’s also different than any other English kit i’ve seen this year. It can’t look any sillier than those Reading or Blackburn 2nd kits.
Its a nice jersey, better than the home.
Wonder what it would look like with a better make though?
