Arsene Wenger has tried to convince Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas over phone to join him at Arsenal, according to reports from Mundo Deportivo.
The Frenchman has called him yesterday in an attempt to convince him join the Emirates club in the summer.
Mundo Deportivo reckons that Casillas might leave Real Madrid in the summer. He has lost the regular starting position in the Madrid team while had a poor World Cup in Brazil which could prompt him to move elsewhere.
Casillas and his partner, journalist Sara Carbonero, both are big fan of London and make frequent trips to the capital of England. Therefore, should he leaves Real Madrid, his preferred destination will be London, and more precisely Arsenal. Wenger is trying his best to persuade Casillas to join him at the Emirates where he will be united with two of his good pals – Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil.
The Londoners are looking to reinforce their goal keeping department following the departure of Fabianski to Swansea. Wenger is also thought to be interested in Colombian goal keeper David Ospina, who has performed superbly in the World Cup so far.
