Serie A giants AS Roma have contacted Chelsea over a possible 2 year loan deal for Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku according to reports in Italian newspaper Il Messaggero.
It is believed that Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini, has been in England holding discussions with the Blues for the Belgian starlet in a similar deal that Chelsea have with Atletico Madrid for Thiabuit Courtois.
Lukaku has had a terrific season on loan with Everton scoring 13 goals and grabbing 6 assists in 31 appearances for Roberto Martinez’s side. We had earlier reported that Lukaku won’t be playing for Chelsea next season as manager Jose Mourinho might consider a swap deal with Tottenham’s Brazilian midfielder Paulinho. Everton too, are desperate to keep hold of Lukaku but Chelsea’s asking price might be out of reach for Roberto Martinez’s transfer budget.
Belgian site DH Net have also reported that the Giallorossi are looking to strengthen their attacking options in the summer as Rudi Garcia’s side are set to feature in the Champions League next season.
With Lukaku in their ranks, Roma would have a striker who would provide a different outlet for their attacking options apart from Francesco Totti and Matiaa Destro.
