Jorge Mendes is set to play a key role once again in determining the fates of two class players that possibly could become ‘The transfer story’ of the summer. He is masterminding a move to bring Colombian sensation James Rodriguez to Real Madrid and in return take Argentina winger Angel di Maria to Manchester United.
Di Maria has a contract till 2018 but is unsure of his future at Real Madrid. “I don’t know if I’ll stay at Real Madrid, we’ll see what happens” he said.
Spanish newspaper AS feels that the winger, who played a crucial role for Madrid in winning the La Decima last season, is plotting an exit strategy to leave the Bernabeu. In a recent interview, he said that Lionel Messi is the best player in the world, which AS interprets as a gesture of showing contempt towards Cristiano Ronaldo.
Now, El Confidencial reports today that Mendes, agent of Di Maria is planning to take the Argentine to Manchester United. Real Madrid could settle for a transfer fee in the region of €50m, but it remains to be seen whether United actually pay such heavy price for him or not, as they have other priorities as well.
