Arsenal are looking to do some business in the last few days of the transfer window. Respected Italian journalist GDM claimed today that the Gunners had lodged a bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, while French media reported that agent of PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot was supposed to hold meeting with Arsenal today.
PSG were drawn in a tough group with Barcelona and Ajax in the the Champions League. French radio station RMC and Beinsport managed to take an interview on him where he gave his opinions on PSG’s chances of qualifying from the group.
Furthermore he was asked to comment on PSG transfer and naturally questions on Rabiot and Edinson Cavani were asked.
When asked on Cavani, he said: “He is staying, that is for sure.”
And asked about Rabiot, he added: “We are in talks with clubs for him.”
RMC earlier reported that Arsenal are leading the race to sign him after Wenger personally called the midfielder to convince him join the London club. PSG are demanding a fee in the region of €25m, but Arsenal are thought to have made an initial offer of €15m.
Likewise, Cavani (reported market value of €65m) was heavily linked with a move as well, more so, following the injury of striker Olivier Giroud. However, PSG president has put an end to all speculations surrounding Cavani, although there was no doubt from our end that he won’t leave PSG in the summer.
