Yesterday, I wrote an article on this Argentine winger – Angel di Maria: Now or Never for Manchester United.
In that article, I highlighted the fact that Manchester United need someone like Di Maria to bring the mojo back at Old Trafford. That feel-good factor, you know.
I also mentioned that although PSG were linked with a move, they simply cannot afford to spend such a high price on him due to FFP regulations.
Manchester United must win this one horse race from here on. And they will be boosted by this words from PSG boss Laurent Blanc:
“With large players like Di Maria, there are a lot of clubs behind him certainly,” he told L’Equipe.
“PSG cannot do what he wants in terms of recruitment (because of financial fair play). This is a difficult issue, the president has confirmed to me.”
Today Catalan newspaper Sport reported that Barcelona had lodged a surprise move for Angel di Maria, but the offer was rejected by Real Madrid.
Don’t read too much into it. It could easily be a ploy from the Catalan press to stir things up in the transfer market.
Manchester United are thus presented this golden opportunity (as PSG officially rules out of the race) to sign Di Maria.
The player wants to leave, club interested to sell, Manchester United manager wants him and there is funds as well. Ed, what are you waiting for?
