Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool could be set for a summer battle for the services of £7m-rated Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva.
The trio are reportedly monitoring the Italy international’s unclear situation at Lazio. Part owned by both Udinese and Lazio, negotiations over the 27 year-old’s future are thought to have gone far from smoothly, according to a report by the Daily Express.
With the Italian on course to enter the final year of his contract next season, both parties are eager to resolve their differences before this summer’s World Cup, which Candreva is expected to participate in.
Liverpool, in particular, were linked with a move for the attacking midfielder in January but speculation failed to transpire into a concrete bid.
The Reds are strongly linked with Candreva’s Lazio colleague Ogenyi Onazi, who has shone at the Stadio Olympico this season.
Onazi is a real box-to-box midfielder, agile, energetic with an eye for goal and given his young age of 21, his signature could prove to be a profitable bargain.
However, Liverpool will have to fend off firm interest from Tottenham, with Director of Football Franco Baldini preparing a £8m bid for the Nigerian midfielder.
Lazio are resigned to losing their 21 year-old midfield maestro but are now hoping for a bidding war between Liverpool and Spurs.
