France thrashed Norway 4-0 in last night’s pre-World Cup friendly at the Stade de France, with Arsenal Olivier Giroud bagging two decent goals. Gunners fans watching the match would have been impressed by the 27-year-old’s performance, but most attention would have been afforded to substitute Loic Remy, the QPR striker, who scored the third goal of the night, with rumours linking him with a summer move to the Emirates refusing to die down.
The French striker, who spent last season on loan at Newcastle, clinically dispatched the penultimate goal in the rout, and after watching Giroud wrap up the win with his second of the night, ran to embrace the hitman, who could be his future Arsenal teammate.
Arsenal are firmly in the hunt for a striker, and have also been linked with Remy and Giroud’s France teammate Karim Benzema, with Arsene Wenger claiming that the Real Madrid man could be moving to the Premier League next season.
Laurent Koscielny, also of Arsenal, started the game at centre-back alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Sakho, with Manchester United’s Patrice Evra slotting in at left-back. It was certainly a fine evening for Didier Deschamps’ side, with Giroud’s first goal the moment of the night.
