Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho considers Arsenal as their rivals in the Premier League three-horse-title race but admits that Gunners need to carry on the form they displayed against West Ham on Saturday in order to mount a serious threat.

The Blues wasted a good chance to go eight points clear at the top, but courtesy of their 1-1 draw with Southampton, the Londoners lead Manchester City by six points, with a game in hand. Surely it is now Chelsea’s title to lose.

Arsenal meanwhile have closed the gap to just seven points behind Chelsea (having played one game more) and Mourinho admits that he considers the North Londoners as Chelsea’s rivals in the title race.

Mourinho said as quoted by The Guardian: “Of course [Arsenal are] as they are seven points behind Chelsea, even if they have one less match to play than Chelsea. I keep thinking our opposition is better than theirs [over the run-in], but I think both teams are in the race.”

When asked whether Arsenal can be considered as a serious threat their recent run of form, Mourinho said: “Which momentum? The 3-1 against Monaco or the 3-0 against West Ham? It depends on the momentum.”

Chelsea are knocked out of the Champions League have only the Premier League to focus on, and Mourinho is confident his side can lift the title at the end of the season.
