Manchester United registered their first away win of the season as they defeated Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The game also ended Arsenal’s impressive record at home as their bad form to the start of the season continues. Things went from bad to worse for the Gunners as one of their fans showered red wine over United dugout during the game, according to the Times.
United players on the bench were showered with wine after a missile was thrown by Arsenal fans near the halfway line over the weekend. The report claims the North London club will launch an internal investigation and the fan is likely to be handed from the Emirates.
United are now looking to take this matter to the Football Association (FA) as the whole incident as left the visitors angry. The Red Devils midfielder Darren Fletcher was even involved exchanging words with several Arsenal fans behind the dugout.
The FA could charge Arsenal for failing to control their fans and should that happen, it will only make things worse for Arsene Wenger’s side, who have failed to enjoy a great start to the season.
On the pitch, Arsenal star midfielder Jack Wilshere was also involved in an incident where he tried to headbutt on Marouane Fellaini. The England international escaped a red card as the former Everton midfielder stood his ground.
Wilshere was forced to leave the pitch with an ankle injury. However, the good news for the player is the x-ray report does not show any break on his left ankle. Arsenal face Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in the Champions League clash. It is unlikely that Wilshere could be fit enough to face the Bundesliga outfit at the Emirates.
