The summer is shaping up nicely for Manchester United. The 20-times Premier League champions have already signed Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw and new manager Louis van Gaal is ready to make further incursions in the transfer market.
According to reports in The Guardian today, Manchester United have made Angel di Maria their top target in the summer and will make a formal move to land the Argentine. The Red Devils are expected to propose an initial bid of around £40m for Di Maria, who has a contract at Madrid till 2018.
Real Madrid are keen to sign the Colombia superstar James Rodriguez and are preparing to offload Di Maria in order to raise funds. The Los Blancos would be willing to listen to offers in the region of £45m for Di Maria, who according to Spanish press, is basically trying to force an exit move. We reported few days back that agent of Di Maria, Jorge Mendes, is masterminding a move to take him to Manchester United.
Louis van Gaal is a keen admirer of Di Maria and wants the Argentine to join his forward line at Old Trafford next season. United are looking to finance the deal (plus a potential move for Mats Hummels) by selling some of the fringe players at the club like Marouane Fellaini, Nani, Ashley Young and Shinjhi Kagawa.
French giants PSG are also thought to be interested in Di Maria with Marca reporting the French champions are preparing a €60m bid to secure his services.
Arsenal were also thought to be interested in him, but with Alexis Sanchez almost certian to join the Gunners, I don’t think the North London club will show any further interest in the Argentine winger.
