Louis Van Gaal hasn’t been shy to shell out the millions since arriving at Manchester United. And he is starting to reap the rewards. The Red Devils, after their lowly 7th-placed finish last season, seem to have cemented a spot in the top 4 this time around.
They are though, still some way away from matching Manchester City and Chelsea as title contenders. Van Gaal will want to change that within the next year or so, and therefore, more big players are sure to come in at Old Trafford.
One player that United have been tracking for some time now is Benfica attacking midfielder Nicolas Gaitan. Now, the price that they will have to pay has been revealed. Portuguese newspaper Record has quoted Gaitan’s agent as saying that any club that wants ti buy must simply pay his release clause, which is €35 million.
The Argentine has grown from strength to strength since arriving at the Portuguese capital from Boca Juniors in 2010. He came in to replace Angel Di Maria, who moved on to Real Madrid. Di Maria, of course, moved to United last summer. There have also been reports of him asking Van Gaal to sign Gaitan.
