Manchester City star Yaya Toure has opened the door for a summer move to Paris Saint-German after the midfielder admitted it is hard to turn down an offer from the Ligue 1 champions.
The 31-year-old was City’s top scorer in the league with 20 goals as he helped his side win the Premier League and the Carling Cup in the 2013-14 season. However, the Etihad outfit reportedly failed to wish the Ivory Coast international on his birthday on May 13, which has angered the player.
Toure heaped praise on PSG’s achievements in recent years and he believes the French side are becoming one of the biggest clubs in Europe. The former Barcelona midfielder has left the door open for a possible switch to Parc des Princes in the summer transfer window.
“Considering the objectives in Paris, how could you not be attracted by such a club? PSG has become one (of the) strongholds in Europe. It would be an honour to be part of such a club one day. If I could help…” Sky Sports quoted Toure as saying.
The Citizens’ star player’s agent Dimitri Seluk has already admitted the midfielder is looking for a summer exit. Toure did nothing to stop rumours linking him with a move away from the club.
Instead the midfielder stressed that his representative is holding talks in deciding his future as he remains fully focused for the World Cup in Brazil with his national side.
“Given the magnificent season Manchester City have had, everyone talks about me and everything is open. My agent, Dimitry, is hanging on the telephone and he knows what he has to do, I have complete confidence in him,” the midfielder said.
“Nobody knows what can happen tomorrow, my attention is on the World Cup and we will see afterwards. Yes, I have said I would like to finish my career at Barcelona. You never know because football moves quickly, you never know.”
The question holds in every City fans’ mind will be whether the club will bend to the player power or will they release him and cash in from his sale in the transfer window. Should the Citizens sanction the sale of Toure, it will be a tough task for the club to find a suitable replacement.
