The Ivory Coast international made a switch to the Liberty Stadium last summer and had an impressive debut season with Swansea. His form has seen him attract interest from top Premier League clubs and the reports suggest that both Liverpool and Arsenal are battling it out in landing Bony.
However, Monk has expressed his desire to keep Bony at Swansea and only a massive bid from potential suitors will see them sign Bony in the summer transfer window.
” There will be interest in a number of our players – that’s the way it is – but at the end of the day, Wilf is a Swansea City player. Unless anyone wants to pay an astronomical fee, he will be going nowhere,” Monk said, as reported by Sky Sports.
“Everything that has been said about him this summer has been said in the papers. We are not a paper company, so we’ll just deal with the reality.”
“At the moment nobody has come in for Wilf and he is our player. But it can’t drag on for the whole summer. We don’t want one of those scenarios where it’s going on right up until the last day.”
“It has to be made loud and clear what is happening at some point – but at the end of the day he is not for sale unless someone comes in with an astronomical offer, which is the same with every club around the world,” Swansea manager added.
The Gunners have strengthened their attack by adding Alexis Sanchez to their squad. Meanwhile, Liverpool need a striker, especially after Luis Suarez’s departure to Barcelona.
Brendan Rodgers wanted to sign Loic Remy and the French international was closing in on joining the Merseyside club. However, a report from The Times say that the Anfield club have now pulled the plug after Remy failed his medical.
