If you can’t beat them, join them, as they say. Or have them join you. This seems to be the philosophy for Juventus after their Europa League semifinal defeat to Benfica, as according to Tuttosport, they have set their sights on the Portuguese club’s midfielder Enzo Perez.

Benfica acquired the player in 2011, and after a few months in Lisbon, he was sent back to Estudiantes on loan. When he returned in 2013, he became an important member of the team, thanks to his technical development and decent goalscoring abilities.

The Bianconeri have enquired about the player, who has a buyout clause of €30m, but a transfer could be negotiated at around €20m. The Argentine is also liked by Manchester United, who are preparing for an overhaul following their most recent near-disastrous season.

The player could probably only be bought by Juventus if one of Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba are sacrificed, even though Perez has different characteristics. He can play in the center but is also able to play as a winger, which would allow him to play in both a 3-5-2 formation and with a four-man defence. Benfica coach Jorge Jesus has already positioned the player both on the wing and in the center, almost always with good results.

Along with Perez, Juve are also trying to land the services of Fiorentina midfielder Juan Cuadrado. The Colombian’s destiny might be decided in the following days, as his co-owners Fiorentina and Udinese will meet with the player’s agent to discuss his situation. Bayern Munich and Manchester United are also said to be after him. However, the Bianconeri are hoping their good relationship with Udinese will give them an advantage.
