The 21-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford these last few months, despite the existence of a €45m buyout clause in his contract.

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal have been rumoured to have been interested, but considering United’s scouts have reportedly watched the Portuguese a whopping 12 times so far, the current momentum seems to be with David Moyes’ side.

“It’s nice being praised and to know there are some big clubs interested in me,” Carvalho told reporters following Sporting’s 2-1 win over Braga on the weekend (relayed by Sky Sports),

When asked about his future, he added: “It could be Manchester United or Real Madrid. It’s just nice to have a great European club after me, but at the moment I’m just totally focused on Sporting and doing my best until the end of the season,”

“At the end of the campaign, we will see what happens.”

Possessing superb defensive qualities, an excellent reading of the game, and a maturity far beyond his years, Carvalho is a potential star of the future, and it is no wonder he is attracting such interest.

However, that enormous buyout clause could be a problem come the summer…

What do you think? Is he worth that amount of money? Let me know in the comments below…
