Petr Cech has revealed in an interview that it would be best for him to stay on in London, if he were to leave Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window, Jeremy Wilson from the The Telegraph has reported. The goalkeeper lost his place at Stamford Bridge to Thibaut Courtois last season, and is expected to look for pastures new in order to get some first-team football.

“I will decide based on what for me and my family was the best and it does not matter whether it is England, Germany, France and Spain,” he said.

“Next week we will have a meeting with Chelsea when the situation is clearer and all the cards are on the table. If I move, it brings difficulties. I must change everything, looking for housing, a school for children and so on.”

Arsenal and Manchester United looked like being frontrunners for the big Czech’s signature, but now the former look like being the favourites. It is upto the Gunners to put in a good offer and seal the deal.

While Arsenal have a lack of quality in goal, United are close to losing David De Gea to Real Madrid. The Spaniard was one of the standout performers of last season, and Louis van Gaal will therefore want to bring in a top quality replacement. Cech, albeit 33, is still one of the best goalkeepers in the league and recently won the 4th Premier League title of his career. He still feels he is capable of being first-choice for another 3-4 seasons at least, and is not willing to accept being on the bench like last season.

It was earlier reported that Mourinho did not want to sell Cech to a Premier League rival, but also admitted that he had not control over the proceedings. According to the Telegraph report, Chelsea’s management, along with Roman Abramovic, want to allow the goalie to make his own decision out of respect.

Cech has spent 11 seasons at Stamford Bridge, making close to 500 appearances in all competitions and winning 15 trophies.
