Included in the Guardian’s top 10 most promising youngsters in the world this year, Marseille winger Florian Thauvinis certainly catching the eye.
According to reports emanating from France, both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have sent scouts to closely watch the 21-year-old, with the Premier League pair expected to be represented for Marseille’s Ligue 1 game on Saturday.
French channel RMC Sport have revealed that Thauvin, who can play anywhere along the attacking midfield three, was watch by Chelsea and Spurs scouts on February 8th against Bastia, and they are expected to be in attendance when Marseille take on Lorient at the Stade Vélodrome this coming Saturday.
It is not the first time Thauvin has been scouted by an English side, or by Chelsea for that matter, who also watched the attacker in action in January.
Arsenal had also been tracking the midfielder over the last few months, with Wenger admitting his interest last year,
“We were following him and we were interested in him before he joined Lille,” the 64-year-old said last November in the Mirror,
“For me, he is one of the big prospects of French football.”
Bought by Marseille for €15m last September, Thauvin’s value will have continued to rise, and should be worth upwards of €25m.
