According to a list published by french Football magazine and a report relayed by Portuguese media outlet A Bola, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was the best paid coach in the world in 2014. The self proclaimed Special One reportedly earned €18m last year putting himself way ahead as the best paid manager in the business.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti claimed the second spot taking home a cool €15.5m while Pep Guardiola who is in charge of Bayern Munich earns just a shade lower at €15.2m. The top five also sees Arsenal gaffer Arsene Wenger in fourth who earns a handsome €11.3 and is ahead of Manchester United’s Louis Van Gaal at €10.6m.
Former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Andre Villas Boas who now manager Russian side Zenit St’ Petersburg comes in the seventh position while Sven Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello surprisingly make the top ten. the two former England managers currently work in China and Russia respectively.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp also makes the top ten while former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, who is now in charge of Napoli earns €6.9m for his services. Manchester City’s Manule Pellegrini earns €5.2m compared to Liverpool’s Brendan Rodgers at €4.9m.
