According to reliable Italian journalist, Alfredo Pedulla, Arsenal are in the market for a centre back following injuries to Koscielny and departure of Thomas Vermaelen in the summer.
Basel centre back, Fabian Schar has been attracting considerable interest from other European clubs, following his impressive displays for the Swiss outfit in the Champions League.
SportItalia also claim that Inter Milan have been keen on his services, but Arsenal remain a far more attractive proposition for the player and if Wenger decides to move for his services, there is little the Italian club can do to convince the player.
Arsenal have struggled with injuries at the back this season and were forced to play full back Nacho Monreal at the heart of the defence for a few games this season. However, Wenger sees the Spanish full back as a weak link in an alien position and is therefore looking to bring in specialist reinforcements in January, with Fabian Schar being one of the names in his shortlist.
