Barcelona 4-1 Arsenal
UEFA Champions League
6 April 2010
Arsenal surprised with an early goal but Lionel Messi led Barcelona back with four goals.
The Gunners started off much better than the first leg and would grab the lead in the 18th minute. Theo Walcott would get behind the defense and send a pass to Nicklas Bendtner in the box. His first shot was saved but he quickly got to the rebound and made it 0-1 for the visitors.
After Arsenal grabbed the lead, it would become the Lionel Messi show as he scored four straight goals. They came in the 21st minute, 37th minute, 42nd minute, and 88th minute to give his side a 4-1 lead. Messi was spectacular in the match and showed clinical finishing ability.
Arsenal did have some chances in the second half but couldn’t convert and lacked the finishing of Van Persie, Arshavin, and Fabregas. It was an expected result and now Barcelona will face Inter Milan in the semifinals.
