Eden Hazard is enjoying a brilliant season at Chelsea. He has just won his first major trophy in the form of Capital One Cup with the Blues, and was awarded with London’s ‘Player of the Year’ accolade.
The Belgian international is also leading the chart in the EA Sports Player Rankings and looks destined to achieve more success (individual and collective) in time.
Hazard’s team-mate Cesar Azpilicueta says that Hazard is more concerned with winning silverwares with Chelsea but has the potential to reach the level of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and win the Ballon d’Or award.
Either of Ronaldo and Messi have won the Ballon d’Or in each of the last seven years but Azpilcueta believes Hazard can reach a similar level.
“We are talking about two monsters of football today,” the Spain international told Marca, via Goal.com. “Eden is a great player, younger than them, and therefore has more capacity for improvement.
“I think in the future he could win the Ballon d’Or, he has the quality to it, but I see more focus on titles than achieving individual trophies. But yes, he has great quality and I think in the future we will see with the trophy in his hands.”
Hazard has scored 14 goals and notched eight assists in 33 appearances for Chelsea. He scored the only goal against West Ham on Wednesday night to preserve Chelsea’s five points lead over Manchester City.
