Atletico Madrid defender Juanfran has said that he has rejected a lucrative offer in the summer from English giants Arsenal.
The Spain international who has four years left on his contract at the Vicente Calderon, could have easily accepted a move to the Emirates this summer but rejected such advances.
“It is true that I had an offer from Arsenal that any player would have liked to have accepted,” Juanfran said to Spanish Newspaper Marca.
“But I am very happy here.
“For me, as everyone knows, there is no better club than Atletico.”
The 28-year-old has made 94 appearances (scored three goals) for the Rojiblancos since joining the club in 2011 from Osasuna and has five international caps to his name.
The Gunners might go for him in the January transfer window as well, but it seems highly unlikely the player would switch to North London anytime soon. Further, it seems he is happy to lead a stable life in Spain than taking a different challenge in his career at the moment.
We don’t often see too many players rejecting a move to Premier League these days, when offered a lucrative contract with significant pay rise.
Could we see the Gunners going for Juanfran or another defender in the January Transfer window?
