Arsenal have secured their first major signing of the summer, after sealing a deal for Newcastle United defender Mathieu Debuchy.
According to report from The Times, the French right-back, who is expected to fill the void left by Bacary Sagna, has had completed a medical before completing a £7.9m move from Newcastle.
Debuchy joined The Magpies in the January transfer window of 2013, where he signed a five year contract until the summer of 2018. The deal hasn’t been officially announced yet, but The Times reckons it is as good as done.
The Gunners are also lining up a sensational move for Barcelona’s world class winger Alexis Sanchez and are hoping to complete his signing by the start of next week.
The deal is very close to happening, with Arsenal are in final discussions with Barcelona about the payment schedule for Sanchez. The 25-year-old will almost double the £75,000 a week he earns at the Catalan club while his representatives are likely to have talks in London within next few days.
Sanchez impressed everyone with his virtuoso performances in the World Cup and no doubt will add enough quality to the Arsenal side.
