Arsenal are looking to come back with an improved offer of £35 million for Liverpool’s unsettled Uruguayan striker, Luis Suarez with a hope to lure the coveted striker to the Emirates in the summer.
The Gunners have enquired previously about the availability of the striker, and expressed their readiness to pay up to £30 million for the former Ajax star, only to be told that was offer was too low to even consider.
Liverpool are hoping that teams would be willing to cough-up a fee in the region £40-45 million for Suarez, should they sell him at all, as manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted from the beginning that the club has no intention of selling their star player in the summer transfer window.
Further, the Reds are thought to be keen to negotiate with foreign clubs such as Real Madrid, than with Arsenal or any other Premier League club, should any concrete offer comes from the land of Spain.
According to reports from The Guardian, Arsenal are ready to fire the opening shot with an offer close to £40 million, while Manchester City have also registered an interest for the 26-year-old.
Though Suarez has not claimed explicitly about his desire to leave the Anfield club, rather has always had good words for the club and the fans, has hinted that he wishes to test himself at the highest level of club football, which is Champions League.
It also comes as a surprise that Suarez has shown the willingness to entertain the notion of a transfer to other rival Premier League clubs, given his earlier comments about getting disenchanted with the life in England, as he feels he is victimized by the media in this country.
Arsene Wenger has been given a reported transfer war-chest of £70 million and the Frenchman is looking to make the best use of it. During an interview at the club’s pre-season tour to Indonesia described Wayne Rooney, Suarez and Higuain as their “realistic target quality wise”.
The club is also close to securing a deal for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, with the Argentina international having agreed personal terms in principle on a move to the North London club.
