Serie A giants Inter Milan are ready to challenge Arsenal for the signature of highly rated Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata this summer.
The Spanish U-21 international is regarded as one of the brightest prospects of Madrid, but has failed to make strong impression this season, managing only one league start so far. Furthermore, young Jesé has jumped ahead of him in coach Carlo Ancelotti’s plans which has fuelled wild speculation about Morata’s future.
The 21-year-old was previously linked with a move to Premier League club Tottenham as part of Gareth Bale’s record transfer, while he was one of the main targets of Arsenal in the January transfer window as well.
The Gunners were keen to sign him on loan in January, but according to recent reports, the North London club have made further enquiries over his availability and may have to dish out around £25m to secure his signature from Real Madrid.
Arsenal may now face a tough competition in the summer with Goal.com reporting that Serie A outfit Inter Milan have identified Morata as one of their key targets for next season.
Real Madrid could also be looking to cash in on the player who has a contract till 2015. However, Arsenal do have other transfer targets and it will be interesting to see whether they agree to meet Madrid’s asking price.
