Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger spoke about his philosophy in the latest AGM held today at the Emirates, where he expects good things to come at the end of the season for the Gunners.

Reflecting on last season where Arsenal narrowly pipped their rival Tottenham Hotspur for the top four spot, Wenger said it was tough right from the beginning till the end but the most disappointing aspect was losing out to lower division teams in the Cup competitions.

Arsenal lost their opening day fixture at home against Aston Villa this season. Since then, they have maintained an unbeaten run and are currently occupying the joint-top position in the Premier League, with Liverpool.

Wenger feels that people were little bit nervous when they lost 3-1 to Villa at the Emirates but reflects about his side’s great mental fortitude as they turned the tide around, starting with the victory in the hostile atmosphere away to Turkey in the Champions League.

The Frenchman further outlined his philosophy saying that maintaining the style of football and developing own players are the only route to success. He said as quoted in The Mirror:

“Style of play and developing own players, that’s the only way you can do it. That has to be the core and strength of our club.

“The intelligence of our eye, players who are unknown through connections, scouting and how we have seen and developed. For example, when Koscielny came here no-one knew him and he is now an international.

“Scout and buy, recognize world class players. We bought Ozil. You don’t need any scout to buy Ozil. You just need money!”

Arsenal’s major share holder Stan Kroenke said he is “very happy” with Arsenal’s commercial progress and insists that progress on the pitch is equally essential.

Ivan Gazidis reflected on the club’s ticket prices and assured everyone that the club is committed for fair pricing for tickets. The starting price for the game against Norwich this weekend is £26.
