England 0-0 Algeria
2010 FIFA World Cup
19 June 2010
England would once again struggle in the attack as they were held to a 0-0 draw against Algeria.
It was another disappointing performance and fewer chances created than in the USA match. The partnership of Wayne Rooney and Emile Heskey is proving to be ineffective and it’s a good chance Fabio Capello will make a change for the final match.
Algeria should be given credit for playing a disciplined and very strong defensive match. They kept their knockout stages alive with the draw and need a win in their final match along with a favorable result in the other match.
England can advance with a win in their final group stage match which is against Slovenia next Wednesday. If they are unable to get out of the group stage, it would be a major disappointment for a team that was thinking of challenging for the tournament title.
