Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa will decide his future after the World Cup according to reports in TMW. The Japanese play maker has struggled to get ample game time on the pitch since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2012.

The 27 year old featured in just 24 appearances for the Red Devils this season failing to score a single goal in what has been aptly a frustrating spell on the sidelines for the player.

We had earlier reported that United could use Kagawa as a bait to lure Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik to Old Trafford. However, the player’s agent Thomas Kroth reportedly denied any such claims to German magazine Kicker.

Shinji will play the World Cup now and then see what the new Manchester United manager’s plans are. Right now, it is rather unlikely that he will leave the club in the summer.”

Kagawa has failed to muster up a starting eleven spot for United since his arrival and with new manager Louis Van Gaal’s preferred 4-3-3 setup, the Japanese might be left on the bench yet again.

There were claims that Borussia Dortmund had tried to lure back their former player last summer but Kagawa vowed to fight on for a first team place. ESPN have reported a story that two weeks ago, Dortmund CEO Aki Watzke played down persistent rumours linking Kagawa with a return, asking on a Sport1 talk show: “Would [signing] a third No. 10 make sense?”
