Valencia’s Argentine midfielder, Ever Banega, is reportedly pushing for a move away from the Mestalla Stadium; with the Daily Star claiming Man Utd are the favourites for his signature.
The former Boca Juniors maestro, whose stay in Spain has been riddled with uncertainty for some time, has a reported £50m release clause; yet United could get him for around £20m, due to the player being almost at the end of his contract, and Valencia’s money worries.
David Moyes has been a fan of the 25-year-old for some time, having previously tried to bring him in when at Everton, only to be scuppered by work permit details.
A few weeks ago, Banega’s agent, Marcelo Simonian, let slip that he was looking for a new destination for his client while talking to Napoli Calcio,
Simonian said, “For Banega the situation is different. I can only say that we’re already talking with several clubs for the next market, in the next few days I will be traveling to present all the alternatives to Valencia.”
With a history of off-field issues, it remains to be seen if Utd will indeed take a chance with the Argentine; but with Moyes desperate to better his flailing midfield, we may hear more of this type of story in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Spurs are looking to sign a promising Barca youngster, according to Catalan newspaper, ‘Sport’.
Tottenham boss, Villas-Boas was said to have scouted Barca youngsters back in May, and now ‘Sport’ claims a deal has been offered for 17-year-old Paraguayan striker, Antonio Sanabria.
With Arsenal rumoured to have already taken a long look at the whizkid, Spurs want their man as soon as this coming summer; and ‘Sport’ expects proceedings to move at a quick pace.
