This interview was conducted on Thursday, 9th April 2009.
Soccerlens is delighted to welcome Swindon Town striker and current League One top goalscorer Simon Cox.
Cox had previously been with Reading Football Club for eleven years having rose through the youth ranks at the club and eventually into the first team. He made his first team debut for the Royals in a League Cup third round victory at Luton Town back in September 2005 and a couple of months later he signed a professional contract with the Berkshire based club.
Cox had enjoyed successful spells on loan at Northampton Town and Swindon during 2007 and 2008 before he made the decision to move to the Robins on a permanent basis for a fee believed to be in the region of £200,000.
The gifted front man has gone on to become an influential player for Swindon and with 25 goals in the league so far this season, along with Rickie Lambert he has scored more league goals than any other player in England.
The former Reading man has been linked with Premier League clubs including Bolton, West Brom and Newcastle in recent times and continues to attract attention with his excellent performances in League One.
Soccerlens podcast host and Cox’s one time team-mate, Stephen Darwin caught up with the striker earlier in the week to discuss his Reading past, fast cars, agents and scoring against French champions Lyon amongst many other topics.
This really is an interview that you don’t want to miss and at 15 minutes in length, you have no excuse not to have a listen!
