Manchester United could well miss out on Ason Villa’s Ron Vlaar in the upcoming January transfer window. The Red Devils are sure to address their defensive frailties in January and had lined up World Cup star Vlaar as a transfer target.
It was believed that Louis Van Gaal can well convince the player to make the switch to Old Trafford but accoring to report from Italian Media outlet TMW, United could miss out on the 29 yer old.
TMW have cited Naples based media outlet Il Mattino claiming that Napoli have made contact with the player’s agent and manager Rafa benitez is desperate to address his defensive problems as soon as the transfer window opens. Napoli had a resurgence in the Serie A after a poor start to the season, but once again their defensive problems have been exposed in the past few weeks.
It is also believed that reigning Serie A winners Juventus are also interested in the player and could also make a swoop for the centre back whose contract ends with Aston Villa in the summer. Vlaar is currently sidelined through injury at Villa park but would surely jump at the chance of playing on a bigger club.
Villa however will be desperate to keep hold of their prized asset but would well know that they have to sell the defender rather than lose him on a free in the coming summer. So would Manchester United make a move in January or will Vlaar land in Italy? Only time shall have an apt answer.
