According to reports by well know Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Chelsea are interested to sign Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke in the upcoming summer transfer window. The 24 year old Belgian has been unstoppable in the past few weeks having helped Villa to the FA Cup final and also surely stave off relegation from the Premier League.
Liverpool are also interested in the Belgian striker who has been earlier rated at £30m. Benteke has scored 11 goals in his last 10 games after his nightmarish start to the season under previous manager paul Lambert who was sacked in February earlier this year.
Pedulla claims that Roma are also interested in the player while Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is also weighing up options to land Benteke in the transfer window. With so many potential suitors in waiting, Villa could be forced to sell their prized asset.
It is believed that Mourinho sees Benteke as the ideal replacement to fill the void that could emerge if Didier Drogba leaves in the summer. Moreover, Benteke would be also a serious upgrade over Loic Remy and forge an unstoppable partnership with Diego Costa up front.
