Chelsea star will be world’s best for a decade: Liverpool legend

Petr Cech

Liverpool legend and now turned pundit Jamie Carragher has hailed Thibaut Courtois as world class and claims the Belgium international would become one of the world’s best in future.

Courtois has come under criticism following his mistake against Hull City but he came back strongly to produce some quality saves earning Chelsea a 3-2 victory on Sunday.

The Belgium star has failed to keep a clean sheet in Chelsea’s last three matches, conceding five goal.

Carragher believes Courtois is a world class keeper who is keeping Peter Cech away from the starting line up through sheer merit than anything else.

“He had a bit of mix-up in the first half. He’s a world class goal keeper to Peter Cech out and what he did last year for Atletico Madrid getting to the Champions League final,” said Carragher during his analysis, via Daily Mail.

“He is a fantastic keeper and he’s going to be one of the world’s best for a decade or so.”

Jose Mourinho has also voiced the same and refused to criticise the 22-year-old goal keeper. He said:

“Courtois is a big player. If every ball that comes to his feet he kicks into the stands then he never concedes this goal, but we don’t want that.

“Maybe it was a bad back pass; maybe he was waiting for more movement from the players. But we won and that is important.”
