Aston Villa are reportedly chasing Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, according to a report published by the Birmingham Mail.
Abraham spent last season on loan with Swansea in the Premier League. He did not look anything but ordinary for the Swans and managed just five goals from 31 appearances for the club as they were relegated from the top-flight.
Four of the goals came in Abraham’s first eight games last season. He was subsequently rewarded for his efforts with a call-up to the England team by Gareth Southgate for friendly internationals against Germany and Brazil in November last year.
However, despite ordinary form last season, Abraham is still very young at just 20-years of age and will still grow and develop as a player.
He also managed to score an impressive 26 goals from 48 appearances on loan for Bristol City in the Championship during the 2016-17 season which highlighted that he has tremendous potential.
From a Villa perspective, this will also prove that he will be a good signing as we know that he has what it takes to succeed in Championship football.
It does not look likely that Abraham will be part of Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea first-team plans for next season so Villa could have a good chance of pulling off a deal if they follow through.
However, what could work against Villa is the fact that Abraham may want to move to a club that offers him Premier League football.
