France make attacking look very difficult against an extremely beatable Uruguay side.
Where are France’s creators?
Ribery did little. Gourcuff did less. Other players under-performed but France would have cruised to victory if this pair had created the chances that they should have.
Much of the French team would rather be en vacance
The body language was not good; most of the French did not look inspired by the huge occasion. All is not well in the camp and it shows.
Uruguay will cure your insomnia

Henry is not the answer
There was something desperate about this substitution. Struggling for a breakthrough, Domenech turned to a former great whose career is now at the point where he is looking to cosy MLS retirement. His impact consisted of one bad free-kick.

The controversy – none really . . .
Referee Nishimura was perhaps the game’s stand-out performance. He got the two big calls right, correctly turning down a late handball appeal and sending off Lodeiro.
What next?
South Africans and Mexicans enjoyed this: both must feel pretty good about their chances in the upcoming matches. France can’t play this badly again (can they??) and will get something out of the game against Mexico. Hard to see Uruguay improving much and they will generously give the hosts a victory to celebrate.
