Barcelona 2-0 Osasuna
Spanish La Liga
24 March 2010
Barcelona dominated play including over 70% of possession but couldn’t find a goal in the first half. Osasuna stayed strong defensively despite having very few scoring chances.
The second half was more of the same as Barcelona had most of the possession and Osasuna remained disciplined defensively. Finally, in the 72nd minute, the Barcelona attack found the breakthrough with a goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
It started with Iniesta sending a nice through ball for Messi who then dribbled into the box and sent a pass to the far post. Ibrahimovic beat the defender to the ball and easily redirected it into the back of the net. With a 1-0 lead, the match seemed all but over as Osasuna rarely had possession in the final third.
The home side would add another in the 88th minute as Bojan Krkic received a pass from Iniesta inside the box and made it 2-0. It was a slow start for Barcelona in the match but they eventually wore down the Osasuna defense and showed why they are one of the toughest teams to defense against.
Barcelona are now three points clear of Real Madrid, who will play tomorrow in La Liga.
