The long time Chelsea midfielder will be leaving England, and now heading to the states to play in the 2015 expansion team for Major League Soccer, New York City FC.
The 36-year-old former captain of Chelsea will be going across the pond to play for Major League Soccer in 2015, for the city that never sleeps, New York City.
The club is schedule to announce the English international Frank Lampard as their second designated player in the clubs brief history. They will formally introduce the 19 year English Premier League veteran, in a press-conference on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Eastern Time; for the second major signing of NYCFC, or as they call it, “major play signings.”
The English midfielder who has earned 106 caps for his nation could be on the verge of retiring from international football, like David Villa did after the 2014 World Cup ended in disappointing fashion for both nations.
However, according to Goal USA Lampard will be not coming to the United States for a low price. It has been reported that the London native will be coming to MLS for $8,000,000 a season and for $90,000 dollars a week. The veteran English midfielder will be joining Villa in New York as the only two players the expansion team has signed of yet.
Lampard, could potential be meeting with Villa at the Hyundai A-League with Melbourne City on a short loan till; to keep the two veteran players in shape before the NYCFC inaugural season in Major League Soccer starts in 2015, according to Goal USA.
