Carlo Ancelotti is officially confirmed as the new head-coach of Real Madrid with the Italian signing a three-year-contract at the Bernabeu.
The former Paris Saint-Germain manager was the club’s automatic choice for the coaching job, after Jose Mourinho left the La Liga giants at the end of last season to join Chelsea.
Ancelotti has achieved great successes in his managerial career, having won two Champions League titles with AC Milan, double with Chelsea, league title with PSG and two UEFA Super Cups as well.
A statement read on Real Madrid’s official website:
“Familiar with the pressure of leading large teams in the continent (Juventus, Milan, Chelsea and PSG), Italian is a guarantee to lead an exciting project.”
Meanwhile, PSG have swiftly replaced the vacant position by appointing Laurent Blanc as Ancelotti’s replacement.
The Frenchman, who won league title with Bordeaux in 2009, has penned a two-year-contract at the Parc des Princes.
A statement on PSG’s website read:
“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the appointment of Laurent Blanc as coach for the next two years. He will take charge of the squad on 1 July 2013 for the start of pre-season training,”
“The board of Paris St Germain has given Laurent Blanc the mission to build on last season and to continue the club’s ascendancy towards the summits of the European game.”
Blanc was a fantastic central defender who played a major role in France’s World Cup triumph in 1998 and Euro 2000 as well.
The 47-year-old also won league titles with Manchester United and the European Cup Winners’ Cup with Barcelona, apart from winning domestic glories with Montpellier and Auxerre.
Now that Ancelotti has been finally appointed, Madrid will look to complete some of their pending transfer businesses. Malaga youngster Isco is set to join the club while Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain might leave the club in the summer.
