Juventus may face more problems after racist chants from fans

Italian giants Juventus will probably be punished severely after their fans chants turned racist during their home defeat at the hands of Catania. Not the best day for Juve as the day began with the team bus being pelted with eggs and fireworks and ended with the third consecutive defeat; Catania’s first against Juve in 45 years.

The chants, as reported by the Italian media were, “there are no black Italians”, a repeat of the behavior that saw Juve serve a stadium ban last season. The goals came from Jorge Martinez’s penalty in the first half, Hasan Salihamidzic’s equalizer in the second half and Mariano Izco’s winner three minutes from time.

Moreover, four games were postponed in Italy due to snow, including AC Milan’s away game against Fiorentina. Samuel Eto’o snatched an early winner for Inter Milan, taking them eight points clear of Milan who are just one point clear of Juve with a game in hand.

Just for the record, Catania are 19th on the table after their 17 games ahead of Siena on goal difference. Not just that, Juve aren’t the only team who lost to a relatively smaller club this weekend, over in England, Liverpool and Manchester United were comprehensively beaten by Portsmouth and Fulham respectively.
