The new season has just started and we already had most big-profile brands making their releases for the new season after the World Cup. Puma, on the other hand, have waited to release a bomb for the new season after other brands have revealed their new boots, releasing the v1.10 Lightning SL football boot, which is our newest addition to the 2010-2011 football boots collection. The boot has been presented by Samuel Eto’o and Bolt, being designed with the Jamaican colours and has some interesting design features that have never been seen before.

The puma v1.10 Lightning SL in yellow/black/and green are the lightest boots ever made, weighing only 150 grams, which is slightly less than the Adidas F50 adiZero which weigh 164 grams. It’s also a lot less than the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II, which weight 210 grams.
The writing on the side of the boot is “Out of many, one people” which is Jamaica’s national slogan.
“The Puma v1.10 SL upper is made from a superlight microfibre synthetic material, which is extremely soft for comfort and ball feel, and provides slightly more padding than lightweight counterpart the adiZero. Like the rest of the v1.10 range, the SL features a central lacing system with a soft and lightweight tongue, constructed to provide breathability.” (Soccer Bible)

One thing that is really striking about this boot is the sudden appearance of bling bling, aka diamonds on the back of the boot. First of all, it makes sense because Usain Bolt had a big hand in designing this boot. But why would a normal footballer need diamonds in their boot? I wouldn’t want diamonds in my boot, maybe my girlfriend would though. The special edition with diamonds costs £250 GBP which is a lot to spend for the regular person. The extra cost is simply the diamonds.

It looks alright with the diamonds, but I imagine playing in them once would mean losing at least one of them, which is an expensive novelty.

Sizing is also limited with this edition to 8-9 UK and 9-10 US, so they’re not for everybody. Check that before you buy them. They’re launched today, so you should be able to find them online soon!
