Blackpool, West Brom and Newcastle are doing the Championship proud

Ten games into the Premier League season and all three of the new boys are in the top half. They’ve all grabbed some famous wins; Blackpool won at Anfield, West Brom turned over Arsenal at the Emirates while Newcastle destroyed fierce rivals Sunderland.

I will accept right away that this article is a touch premature. As Ian Holloway himself said, Blackpool may not get another point this season. But so far, all these sides are making the pre-season predictions look ridiculous.

The performance of the newly-promoted sides will always say something about the quality of football in the Championship. So far, these teams aren’t just winning; they are doing it with bold attacking football. It’s a good advert for what the Championship, at its best, is all about.
